KPA School of Music Instructors

Teaching in the Tri-Region since 2008, Miss Aglaia (pronounced A-glay-a) holds B. Mus and B. Ed degrees from Queen’s University in Kingston, ON, earning the Medal for Music in 2001. She composes and produces her own works, serves as Music Director for St. Augustine’s Parkland Anglican Church, and acts as vocal and creative consultant on community productions – most recently KPA’s Inside Out. Miss Aglaia looks forward to furthering musical exploration at KaRAR, encouraging each student to find their unique voice and confidently share its expression with the world.

Andrea Perrin, a private piano instructor for over a decade, holds a B. Comm, B. Ed, and M. Ed, as well as her Associate and Licentiate from the Trinity College of Music in London, England. She has also served as an accompanist for choirs, vocal groups, and churches throughout her career and looks forward to returning to teaching in the County of Parkland at KPA. Andrea will be offering instruction to all ages and levels, using Piano Adventures for beginners, but will instruct more experienced students in accordance with their learning style and ability. She aims to provide a solid base for music theory, practice, enjoyment, and appreciation of music overall.

A passionate teacher since 2011, Dahlia Wakefield offers beginner piano lessons and vocal lessons, specializing in pop, rock, country, jazz, blues, and musical theatre, with a focus on performance readiness and confidence-building for all ages. Her students benefit from a mix of breathing & vocal warmups/exercises, technique, theory (if desired), and repertoire development tailored to their goals. Since graduating with Distinction from the Grant MacEwan Music program in Vocal Performance, Dahlia has worked full-time as a versatile professional musician, performing lead and backup vocals and playing acoustic guitar as a member of multiple bands. She has performed onstage since the age of 5, and in addition to performing solo, she also sings in duos & trios, is a freelancer for various tribute shows, and is a session vocalist for various recording artists, with her own music online. An accomplished songwriter, recording artist, music agent and promoter, Dahlia is dedicated to a lifelong journey in all facets of music.

Emily Loughlin began playing violin in 2019 in the Royal Conservatory of Music program, winning two scholarships at the Parkland Music Festival in 2022 and 2023. She has been a member of the Edmonton Youth Orchestra since 2023, having completed two full seasons with them, and is looking forward to completing another season starting this September.  Emily looks forward to providing instruction in the violin for ages 6 years + from beginners up to Royal Conservatory Grade 5.

Grace has been playing piano since the age of four, quickly developing a deep love for music. She has picked up different instruments over the years, including violin, guitar, and voice, but piano is where she always felt her heart at. Grace is currently continuing her own musical education through the Royal Conservatory of Toronto, working towards my ARCT designation in Piano Pedagogy.

As a dedicated and enthusiastic teacher, Grace enjoys working with students of all ages and skill levels. Her teaching style is both structured and engaging. Grace uses a combination of method books, such as “Piano Adventures” and the RCM curriculum, to help students build a strong technical foundation. Although Grace has a passion for classical music, she also believes that learning piano should be fun and creative, so she incorporates students’ favourite songs and playful pieces into lessons whenever possible. She is passionate about getting to know the student and individualizing their program based on their style of learning.
